THE RANGE

THE RANGE

This is a 'utility' topic I am setting up for all members of the True Crime Message Board. The purpose of this topic, known as 'The Range', is for members to format posts for testing purposes before posting them to their intended thread...should they be finding the 'preview' feature is not working for them as they might wish. It is also a place for members to practice using the various formatting tools, so as to learn what each does in a hands-on way without doing so in serious threads and causing possible disruption. Additionally, members can experiment with different formats to find their preferred 'style', or to correctly format one off special types of posts. Finally, it can serve as a place for members to visibly demonstrate certain formatting techniques for other members who may have approached them for technical help, if required. Simply post anything you want, gibberish if you like, and play with it how you wish...whenever you like. Once you've finished experimenting with your post/s, or at least within a few days of doing so, simply delete your experiments.

Important Note: if you have set your board preferences to notify you of responses to watched threads via e-mail, always remember each time you finish experimenting in The Range to check the 'stop watching this topic' box at the bottom of this thread, or uncheck the 'Notify me when a reply is posted' box within you posting console when making your experimental posts. Not doing so will result in your receiving an e-mail notification the next time someone fires off in the range.

Good place to take aim before firing

What a great idea, Michael.

On a similar note, be advised that I'm going to clean up the board by removing the meta posts (i.e., related to board-dumb and frustration with the new format), although some part of me enjoys May's attempts to bring some color to her posts last week.
If I have any doubts about whether or not to remove a post, I will send a private message to the poster first.

Thanks Skep. I hope it will prove useful :)

Alright, when I see things dissapear I'll know why.

Skep, is there any chance you could get Steve to create a seperate forum for The Range to be moved to? Otherwise, everytime someone uses The Range it'll be bumped up the Meredith Kercher Forum topic list and become an annoying distraction. It really needs to be put out of the way somewhere in its own little cubby hole so it doesn't interfere with other board buisness.

trying out the subject line

Okay, before signing off,
I'll try a little something.
I've been curious to know if the
SUBJECTS themselves can be
larger or colorful. I'll try now.

May

p.s. you can see that they cannot be altered.
I saw that in the preview, but have left it there
for anyone else who might be curious.

I have not been able to change the color
of these last two sentences, however.
